Our mission is to support law enforcement with our rescue efforts, rehabilitation and rehoming seized equines; When an equine cannot be rehabilitated to the point of entering a new home it will remain in our “Care for Life” program. We also strive to educate current and future horse owners to promote responsible horse ownership.
We are committed to providing immediate and effective rescue efforts for equines in need. Our skilled team works tirelessly to rehabilitate these horses, offering them the care and attention they deserve to recover both physically and emotionally.
If you observe a horse, donkey, mule, or any other equine that you suspect is being abused or neglected, please file a complaint to Tennessee Department of Agriculture. Followup with a call to the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction. Be prepared with an address or close description using crossroads. Your vigilance is crucial in helping these animals.
If you feel that your concerns are not being addressed, don’t hesitate to contact Volunteer Equine Advocates. We are here to listen and take actions to ensure the safety and well-being of these animals. Thank you for helping to make a difference!
We believe that education is the key to preventing future cases of neglect and abandonment. We strive to educate current and future horse owners to promote responsible horse ownership, providing them with the knowledge and resources needed to ensure the health and happiness of their equines.
VEA uses science based positive reinforcement to teach our equine how to accept love & learn to regulate their autonomic nervous system after the neglect they’ve endured.
Our training prioritizes force-free handling and cooperative care as much as possible so that our horses are not only rehabilitated physically, but mentally, and emotionally as well.
Restoring their trust in humans through love and patience sets them up for successful and reliable partnerships going forward.
Finding new loving homes for rehabilitated equines is a priority for us. However, when an equine cannot be rehabilitated to the point of entering a new home, it will remain in our “Care for Life” program. This ensures that every horse we rescue receives lifelong support and a safe, nurturing environment.
To be a part of our team at VEA is a rewarding experience that involves dedicated individuals who show up regardless of the weather—rain, snow, sunshine, or wind. Our volunteer program focuses on teaching essential skills for horse care, including proper feeding, watering, grooming, and stall cleaning.
These tasks ensure that our equine residents feel safe and comfortable. Beyond the practical aspects, our volunteers also provide love and companionship to the horses, helping them heal emotionally and physically. It’s a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these animals while gaining valuable knowledge and experience in equine care. Whether you’re a horse enthusiast or just looking to help, your contributions are invaluable in creating a nurturing atmosphere for our rescues.
